Follow our journey as we run. The finish line: a half marathon. Some of us have already finished a full marathon, and some of us are proud just get a foot out on the pavement. It's not about being the best or the fastest, its just about us, our friends, and a pair of running shoes.

Back on Track

Back on the Track

What a difference a run makes! It's been over a month since I last ran, having slipped in my kitchen and hurting my left leg.  The leg's been ok for a couple weeks now, but it's sooo easy to be lazy! That initial push even just to walk to the park across the street from where I work took real determination and  I have to say how glad I am to have gotten back on the track... even if it was a pretty pathetic 15 minute jaunt.  Not my best, I'll admit.

The last time I ran was at the San Francisco Marathon on July 29th.  I know what you're thinking... how do you go from running a marathon to quitting a run after fifteen minutes?  I should probably explain that on the day of the Marathon I only ran from mile marker 22 to mile marker 23.  That's right.  I ran ONE mile of the 26.2 that my friend, Rachel, had signed up for.

I had a blast! A couple hours of scanning the crowd, trying to spot her in a sea of runners, high-fiving as many of them as I could and cheering 'til my voice was gone, then all of a sudden -- There's Rachel!  Her reaction when she realized I was there to cheer her on and run with her was priceless!  I got all the thrill of race day without the time commitment, shin splints or blisters.

But now I'm ready to bring it on!

Happy trails everyone!

  1. what a great post! thanks for the encouragement! Its funny to say "back on track" after just 1 run but its true! whats the difference between being off the wagon & being on track? Its whether or not ur determined to do ur next run! & ur comments about being at a run event r true too. it's tough to imagine the energy b4 u actually experience it. Plus a visual aid is always appreciated :) sorry for the text-style typing. i'm squeezing in this comment b4 my run 2day. 8 miles. & its warming up.

  2. Love the creative silhouette pic. I'd expect nothing less from you of course! So, seeing as it looks like we may never have a successful coffee date,:( ... maybe we can swing a team sweat-fest soon! Love ya!
