Follow our journey as we run. The finish line: a half marathon. Some of us have already finished a full marathon, and some of us are proud just get a foot out on the pavement. It's not about being the best or the fastest, its just about us, our friends, and a pair of running shoes.

Feeling Bad For Mr. Cash...

Today, Lauren & I accomplished Personal Bests.... 10 miles (& in the hills to boot)!!! Woo-Hoo. Truly exhilarating. I didn't know how this would be possible but somehow we made it. That's the longest distance we've ever run & I now know anything is possible!

We ran up in Folsom along the American River Bike Trail canyons/ravines. (At least I think they're canyons/ravines - I'm from Florida! My hilly terrain geographical terminology may be off.) Whatever it's called, it's BEAUTIFUL! We are so privileged to have such breath-taking landscape to soak in during our outings. To my Sac-town running friends, if you haven't yet, trail runs in Auburn or Folsom are a MUST! It's so close & well worth a 30 minute drive.

As I ran past Folsom prison I couldn't help feel a little bad for Johnny Cash... "I hear the train a comin'.. It's rollin round the bend' ... And I ain't seen the sunshine, since I don't know when.
I know I had it comin', I know I can't be free, but those people keep a-movin', and that's what tortures me."
Should have listened to your Mama, Mr. Cash!

Now, off to ice my knees!

  1. These pictures were at 7.5 miles. We still had 2.5 miles to go. When we were done, we had turned into human salt licks. Lot's wife had nothing on us (as far as being covered in salt goes)!

  2. WOW! way to go you 2! 10 miles is up there! I love to run in beautiful places! Bonny & I live on the outskirts Red Bluff close to the Sacramento River. (I'll float a bottle to y'all next run :P) It's amazing out here we have thousands of acres of BLM land & countless miles of river trails & woods trails. Not to mention canyon/ravines! :P Every morning I run past farms & wave to equestrians. I see lots of deer, foxes, snakes & rodents. You just can't help to be aware of Jehovah's love when you run in a beautiful place (Even if someone did build a prison there) :)

  5. @ Jaide - Well, I don't know about any "whoopin'" ... Haha. We're not exactly about speed as you well know. ;) We need to chart some new courses for sure! I'm in the mood for a downtown route. Just to change it up a bit. Or, as mentioned, I'm always happy to run a trail! But, I agree as far as being a little William-Landed out!

@ Jade - You & Bonnie are in Redding, right? I think we have a talk scheduled there in March. We should plan for some outdoors - we love wildlife & sounds like you have plenty of it! I've been keeping my eyes peeled on the trails but have yet to see anything too exciting. Although, Lauren & I did see a skunk family at the Sacramento Marina recently after a run. That was cool for me. :)
